Having a bold front door is a popular choice at the moment – there’s a reason why the pastel front doors in Notting Hill regularly make their way onto Instagram posts. A bright colour can add a sense of fun and is easy to change if you tire of it.
First impressions really do count, says Dulux Colour and Design specialist Davina Harper.
“A colourful front door is a great way to add personality to your home,” she says. “Especially if you have played it safe with the colours you’ve used in the rest of your home, or if you live in a place where many of the houses look similar.”
When choosing a colour Davina suggests first considering the colours already featured in your home (as your front door should complement these). Then, select a colour you love.
If you’re still stuck on what colour to paint your front door, take a walk around the neighbourhood, says Davina. Or, search ‘colourful front doors’ on Pinterest to see what hues take your fancy. Narrow your choices down by ordering colour swatches of your favourite colours and blu-tac them to your door.

The pinks
